Join our award winning eco-tour where you have an exclusive opportunity to experience this special place and wildlife; or stay as a private group in the island’s guesthouse cottage.
Watch thousands of seals as they crowd the rocks and play in the crystal blue waters, tour the island with your National Parks and Wildlife Service Ranger, visit the island’s operating lighthouse and discover over 125 years of lighthouse history. Enjoy majestic humpback whales performing acrobatics in the surrounding waters, relax on the beach taking in the coastal views and spend your evenings watching colourful sunsets, endless stars and little penguins coming to shore. A special part of this tour is the opportunity to assist National Parks and Wildlife Ranges with little penguin surveys.

Boat departs Narooma Town Wharf at 12 noon for Montague Island. Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled boat departure. During the 30 minute boat crossing you may see dolphins, seabirds, whales (seasonal), seals and other marine life. On arrival at Montague Island you will be greeted by our NSW National Parks and Wildlife guide. A welcome briefing and lunch, followed by a two hour guided Island and lighthouse tour with our National Park guide. Dinner followed by evening penguin viewing. LD
Self-serve breakfast at your leisure. An opportunity to give something back to Montague Island and assist with revegetation activities (weeding and/or tree planting). The habitat restoration project is a long term project that is restoring the islands native vegetation and protecting the local seabird populations. Lunch and an afternoon at your leisure – self explore the Islands walking tracks or relax and enjoy the endless views. Dinner. Option to join an evening penguin viewing or simply relax. BLD
After breakfast enjoy a last exploration of the island before our boat departure to Narooma at approximately 12.30pm. Please note that boat departure times are subject to daily weather and sea conditions. Departures from the island may be earlier or in the event of extreme sea conditions even delayed. Moderate, selected walks are between 40 minutes – 1.5 hours. Participants must be able to climb a short ladder at the Island jetty and walk up and down the Island’s steep and rocky terrain.

Location and transportation
This holiday is located at Montague Island Nature Reserve is a gazetted Nature Reserve that holds significant biodiversity and cultural values. The Island is located 9 kilometres off shore from Narooma.
Transfer to Montague Island is on a fully surveyed and licensed passenger boat. The Island is 9kms off shore with a travel time of approximately 30 minutes. Sea conditions are frequently choppy. Tour departures may vary due to sea conditions. In some instances tours may be cancelled or delayed which may include a delayed departure to and from the Island. In the event of a tour being cancelled due to sea conditions a full refund will be provided.
The Montague Island Heritage Listed Guesthouse provides accommodation for up to 12 guests. These beautifully appointed facilities have been restored in Edwardian style and provide sweeping ocean views, five bedrooms, two shared bathrooms (shower and toilet facilities), lounge, reading and TV room, dining and kitchen area.
